SIGHT SPECIFIC - LOCATION I
Sometimes things seem to transform when you move around them. Your feelings towards some things change when you become more familiar with them, and things definitely look different when taken out of context. At those times it seems impossible to me to ever truly portray anything. I wanted to work with this idea, and chose one location, seen from a specific viewpoint, and I went back there again and again. I collected portraits and preformed experiments on them, researched and dissected them. To stick with that one specific site, that one specific sight.
Sight specific consists of puzzles, collages, folded photographs, and digitally altered photographs, all depicting the same view, from the same viewpoint.
This project had its start during an art recidency at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris, made possible by the Flemish government.
